For Best Performance
We recommend that you operate your Honeywell air cleaner 24 hours a day because indoor air can be quickly contaminated by activity in a room, infiltration of outside air, and generation by sources of contamination. While all the air in a room will not be processed by the air cleaner, the more air circulated through the filter, the more filtered air returned to the room. Portable air cleaners will be much more effective in rooms where all doors and windows are closed.
The Honeywell HEPA air cleaner is ready to begin cleaning air as soon as it is removed from the carton and plugged in. Because it circulates air in a 360 degree pattern around the air cleaner, it can be placed on the floor in almost any location. However, for best performance the air outlet slot should not be blocked for at least 1 meter (three feet) in all directions.
Due to the large volume of air drawn towards the air cleaner, surrounding areas should be cleaned and/or vacuumed frequently to prevent buildup. This may help keep your home cleaner and may extend the life of your pre-filter. If the unit is placed on light colored carpeting, a small mat or rug should be used to ease cleaning and prevent any permanent staining. This is particularly important in homes with heavier contamination from smoking or fireplaces

OK, this is rated at 300 CFM. It moves more air than my aller-air 5000 exec. It’s for a living room, not a bedroom.
It’s really good for my 2nd floor loft with cathedral ceilings, and shared kitchen/living room.
On high, it eats up cooking odors, dust, and helps with pet odors, but isn’t really for smoke. A 5000 exec is for pet odors, etc. A 5000 ds/dx is for smoke.
This is too big/noisy for a bedroom.
It’s great in the living room for when company’s coming over, or for cooking.
I use mine in the living room all winter long, and use the whole house fan in the summer.
I’m a little bothered that they discontinued it, but whatever they need to do so they don’t go bankrupt, and stop selling filters. That would be a shame.
These do their job well, but do use up some electricity (Not as much as a dehumidifier on low.), and produce a little heat. I use it in the winter, so the place doesn’t get stuffy, but won’t recommend using it in the summer, when you should be thinking ventilation, not filtration.
If you want something for a bedroom, think 18155 (For quiet.) or if you like a little more air movement/humming noise, set a 17005 at the level of your bed, and point it at your pillow. Velcro your 17005 remote to your headboard so you don’t lose it, and don’t loan it to anyone or let it leave your bedroom, or you’ll never get it back. Leave it on low all day and all night, and don’t let dust settle on your pillow.
To review, 50300= winter living room/big kitchen.
Not for bedroom.

My allergies are just a constantly slight annoyance since moving to Texas. I’m always on the stuffy side…random sneeze attacks, drippy nose. I’m always breathing out of my mouth. My husband insisted we buy this filter, and I had no faith it would help at all, because I couldn’t imagine a FAN basically could clear the air of whatever bothers me. However, this works. When I’m stuffy, I turn on the hepa filter, and within 20 minutes of it being on high, I can turn it to low because I will be able to breathe again through my nose. It just really cleans the air. This was worth the money. I bought it to make my husband happy, but now it has actually helped me. I hope other people try it to find relief.

Lots of air purifiers get a bum rap due to the noise. I like to sleep with this unit about 3 feet from me on the low setting. The thing about the noise is that it is a different pitch than a normal fan, but it is definately a large amount of white noise. I don’t mind it.
The two things that I can say for sure. One is that it really does work. The dust in any room that you put this in will go down quickly.
The other thing that I can say is that I sleep better because of this machine. No doubt about it. I have much less congestion when I wake up and I am told I snore less.
Knowing what I know now, I would definately buy this product again with no hesitation.

Honeywell 50250N 99.97% Pure HEPA Round Air Purifier
This is a review for the 50300 which is similar to the 50250.
This air cleaner really puts out the volume of clean air on high speed, but it is loud. You can not talk or hear over it.
The slow speed is you can hear talking and TV over. Then turn it on high at night for white noice or when you leave the room.
If you want quiet, try the 17005n which does not have the volume (200 sq. ft room) but is quiet enough for to hold business meetings or home use.
