The uvc light bulb is huge compared to the one in the Germ Guardian GG1000 I have in my bedroom. Both work well. I got the ionic pro because I wanted an air purifier for the dining room and had no wall space for another GG1000. This is a student house and we have our windows closed and sealed for the winter meaning cooking and other smells linger and the air tends to get fusty. Not anymore! I have the fan set on medium with the unit on 24/7 and that is enough to keep the air clean and fresh. I have an Ionic from Sharper Image and it does wonders. Because it is so aged I thouhg I might replace it. The Thermapure is different because it uses lamps to ionize air passing through. The lamps can cause damage to the eyes if you are not careful to turn it off when you clean it. There is no such danger from the one I have had for so many years. I use to see alot of dust flying around in my house. I'm glad to say now its disappeared.
